Natasha Romanoff operates outside of her work with the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D., undertaking clandestine jobs for personal atonement for her past as a KGB assassin. The issue, titled "The Finely Woven Thread", establishes a tone of an introspective spy thriller rather than a typical superhero story.
